OCHIN, on the Malabar Coast, has been a trading hub for centuries. It is the center of the Indian spice trade. Attractions include giant fishing nets from China, historic sites from the British Raj, and the Pardesi Synagogue in Jew Town. Once home to a large Jewish population, Jew Town has been reduced to only a dozen diehards. Most of the Jewish residents now live in Israel.
