OR five years, Hasbro has partnered with generationOn, the
youth service division of Points of Light, which encourages kids and
teens to serve their communities all over the country. Bolstered by
a multi-year $5 million investment by the Hasbro Children’s Fund,
generationOn provides youngsters with the tools and hands-on
opportunities to understand the issues in their local communities.
Thereby they can become part of the solution.
Hasbro was one of the major
supporters at the generationOn annual benefit dinner in May at the
Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York. President/CEO Brian Goldner
presented the Hasbro Community Action Heroes Award to six young
people: Ethan Cruikshank, 15, of Mechanicsville VA;
Gabriele Eggerling, 10, of Huntington Beach, CA; Neha Gupta,
17, of Yardley PA; My’Kah Knowlin, 13, of Lincoln NE;
Kellon Oldenette, 5, of Jacksonville IL; and Remington
Youngblood, 13, of Duluth GA.
Actress/singer Paula Abdul
and Silda Wall Spitzer, co-founder and benefit co-chair of
generationOn, presented awards also to Carolyn Rafaelian,
founder/CEO/creative director of Alex and Ani, a lifestyle brand of
products made in America; Charles F. Lowrey, executive vice
president/COO of international businesses at Prudential Financial;
and Andrea and Maurice DuBois (he’s an
outstanding WCBS-TV news anchor in New York).
Calling Rafaelian "my soul
sister," Spitzer declared, "She made me believe women can truly rule
world."
Whereupon Abdul insisted,
"Women can rule the world! And when we do, you men better
watch out!"
