Get Ready For
New Social Season

By Catherine Saxton

T’S that season again, mad parties, 2, 3, 4, 10 invitations in one evening.  What to choose, where to go?  The other Thursday evening, everyone, but everyone, congregated in Veronica Hearst's glamorous Fifth Avenue apartment to plan the Gala evening for HRH Prince Andrew.  Randolph Hearst had just left for the summer climes of Palm Beach but an impressive group of friends gathered in the Hearst apartment to talk about the American Associates of the Royal Academy Gala on October 30 in the Rainbow Room.

Anne Hearst, Frances Hayward and Mrs. Frances G. Scaife rallyed their troops for this sell-out evening.  British Consul General Thomas Harris was on hand, and a crowd way too chic to even have their names mentioned in print were there.

The apartment looks like a mini-Hearst Castle, full of glorious religious antiquities.  Unfortunately, it was one of those evenings when President Clinton was in town and traffic on Fifth Avenue was a mess!  The HRH Gala will be a BIG evening in town, and I'll bring you all the details soon.

Ivana Trump invited some of her very best friends to join her for cocktails at Daniel's to talk about the Gourmet Gala:  An Evening In Provence and Salute to Daniel Boulud.

The evening unites six great French chefs from Provence, with six French-American chefs for a fabulous evening of Provencial food and wine.  Joining Ivana were Ghislaine Maxwell (rumoured friend of Prince Andrew), generous underwriters Sheila and Danny Rosenblum, Gaetana Enders, real estate hotshot Patricia Burnham, and famed French designer Lloyd Klein.  The evening is November 2 at the University Club, so if you want tickets, call 212 353-8355 and tell them Catherine sent you. I promise you an evening of glamour, excitement and unbelievable food (what more could you ask for?).

Some of the biggest galas in the world are coming up soon. There was Alzheimer's Gala honoring the great Rita Haywood on October 11. Then you have the Food Allergy Gala on November 29 at the Plaza Hotel, and the unbelievable G&P Foundation Gala on November 30.  That's when President Bill Clinton, Queen Noor of Jordan, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Sir Paul McCartney will be honored. They have a line up of stars, beginning with N'SYNC and ending with Natalie Cole, to regale and entertain you.  Email me for more information catherinesaxton@15minutesmagazine.com.
