Shafiroffs Leap Into The Year
ELEBRATING leap year with
cocktails on Park Avenue, NY's most popular hostess Jean
Shafiroff and her charming husband Martin
put sparkle into a dreary, rainy night. The art-filled rooms
were aglow with friends, some old, some new, but all delighted
to see each other.
Faces in the crowd included
Lyn Paulsin, Marc Rosen, style guru
Montgomery Frazier, famed author
Michael Gross being congratulated on his new gig with
Avenue magazine, Broadway's Bonnie Comley and
Stewart Lane, just off a Disney cruise with the
kids.
Barbara de Portago,
planning her latest social Gala for Versailles; Larry Kaiser,
realtor to the world's super-stars; Mario Buatta,
famed "Prince of Chintz," and Geoffrey Bradfield
were among the lustrous stars shining brightly through the
rainclouds that night.

PHOTOS BY WARREN WESTURA
HE Pipes of Christmas, presented
by the Clan Currie Society at the Madison Avenue Presbyterian
Church, was a festival for the musical soul. The concert
featured a selection of readings taken from the Celtic
literature of Scotland, Ireland, Wales, and Scripture. The
rousing concert was a nice mix of pipes, drums, harps, readings
and the fiddle.
Featured performers included
Andrew Weir from the film Braveheart, fiddle champion
Paul Woodiel, Riverdance piper Christopher
Layer, Gaelic Mod champion harpist Jennifer Port of
Golspie, Scotland, and the Pipe Major Kevin Ray Blandford
Memorial Pipe Band of Redlands, California.
The proceeds support
music scholarships with educational institutions offering Celtic
music programs.
