HE 27^th annual dinner of the American Friends of Bet El Yeshiva filled the ballroom at the New York Marriott Marquis in December. Yuli Yoel Edelstein, Israel’s minister for public diplomacy and diaspora, captivate the audience with his speech.

Philanthropists Jean and Eugen Gluck packed the ballroom with more than 1200 of their closest friends.

Eugen Gluck, honorary chairman of the organization, noted that 27 years ago Bet El, just north of Jerusalem, was little more than a dream.

“Today Bet El is a thriving Jewish community, growing bigger and stronger every day.”

Several deserving supporters were honored. The Shomer Bet El Award went to Shmuel Goldstein.

The Ayshet Chayil Award was given to Susan Rosenbluth, editor and publisher of the Jewish Voice and Opinion.

The Young Leadership Award was presented to Shalom and Amy Schwartz.

Rabbi Eli and Chani Rosenzveig were the guests of honor.

As usual, Dr. Avinoam Bitton served with great distinction as program chairman. The journal, which weighed in as huge as a phone book, was the happy result of dedicated efforts by Jeffrey Parker and his journal team.
