OUTHAMPTON
Hospital held its 45th annual summer party, The Sapphire Ball, on
a beautiful Saturday night in a huge tent on Wickapogue Road in
Southampton Village. A crowd of over 1,000 turned out to help the
hospital’s Emergency Medical Department raise over a $1
million—more than any of the previous years’ events.
The
major sponsor was internationally renowned jeweler Seaman Schepps,
famous for their use of exotic stones including sapphires and
diamonds in their signature Shell Earrings.
Talented
Lisa Jackson designed the interior of the tent using an
underwater theme that included candle-lit coral centerpieces.
Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs served abundant dishes of roast leg of
lamb, grilled salmon and baby spinach salad.
The
Alex Donner Orchestra presented special guest performer, disco
queen Thelma Houston, who brought the crowd to their
feet when she belted out her famous ‘70s hit Don’t Leave Me
This Way.
Among
the guests were the anniversary chairmen David and Julia
Koch, event chairman Ann Grimm, event co-chairmen Kathryn
Cowles, Barbara and Alan Glatt, development
chairman Jean Little FitzSimmons and mistress of ceremonies
Perri
Peltz.
Others
enjoying the evening were Bianca Jagger, Dina Merrill,
Charlotte Ford, Lally Weymouth, Vera Wang and Arthur
Becker, Marty Richards, Kathy and Rick Hilton, Tory
and Christopher Burch, Pamela Gross and James
