ERCEDES
BENZ Fashion Week in New York kicked off with a bang as big models and cabaret hit the runway. Rouge,
The New Bohemia added
extra sizzle to Lane Bryant’s Spring 2003 Intimate Apparel
Fashion Show.
Patrick
Bonomo’s
Epicurean Productions created a dazzling, glamorous environment to
showcase the sensuous collection and imaginatively utilized the
cast of Rouge
to produce a dynamically hip floorshow.
Joining
the Rouge cast for one night only were comic Roseanne
Barr who emceed and IT
girl of the moment, Kelly
Osbourne.
The
Hammerstein Ballroom immediately heated up when chanteur Daniel Isengart appeared out
of nowhere and electrified the crowd with his opening number.
But
it was the Rouge Coquettes led by Ami
Goodheart
that had the pulses soaring of the likes of Tommy
Tune, Joel Grey,
rocker Steven
Tyler,
club impresario Lionel
Casseroux,
jewelers to the stars John
Wegorzewski
and Laurence
Krashes,
and model Tyson
Beckford.
Celebrity models Mia Tyler,
Kate Dillon, TV star Kim
Coles, along with Rouge’s Meryl
“Lady” Finger
and The World Famous Bob were
among the plus-size gals who strutted the runway in skimpy, sexy
undies to the delight of all.
Unlike the usual backstage fare of
veggies and Evian water, the champagne – accompanied by cookies
– were devoured by the L.B. gang who know that the heft
translates into $$$ for them.
Star Jones gushed,
“I love Lane Bryant. This
country has a prejudice against anyone who isn’t a size 6. Right
on Lane Bryant!”
Kim Coles, now a full figure
gal herself, was “really inspired by the girls who didn’t come
to the show wearing tents but figure hugging sweaters and jeans.”
Victoria’s Secret watch out: “Big
girls don’t cry” anymore – they strut! |
