AULA
ZAHN, emceeing the 48th annual of Albert Einstein
College of Medicine Spirit of Achievement luncheon at the
Waldorf-Astoria, sighed when she presented an award to fashion
designer Vera Wang.
“My son Jared and her daughter Josephine,
both 8 years old, have known each other since they were 3,” Paula
remarked. “You know her wedding gown will be magnificent.”
I told Vera that she should make a shidduch [a
match].
“I should be so lucky,” she replied.
Meantime Paula, a CNN anchor, has other
concerns. She’s been trying to get an interview with the elusive Johnny
Carson for the longest time.
“I send him flowers, chocolates, telegrams
– nothing. He did send me a nice letter, but no interview.”
On behalf of the New York chapter of
Einstein’s National Women’s Division, Paula presented awards
also to New York Times correspondent Judith Miller, Broadway
producer Daryl Roth (Proof), choreographer Susan
Stroman (The Producers), and Dr. Lisa Sinsheimer
of Weill Cornell University Medical College.
