HE
Black White + Whitney evening, created by Jean-Georges
Vongerichten, raised more than $1.7 million for the Whitney
Museum of American Art in New York. The after party featured a
special performance by LAMYA where 600 people danced the night away.
Among
the glittering guests were Sharon Stone, Vera Wang, Joan Collins,
Barry Diller, museum director Maxwell Anderson, Dan Akroyd
and Donna Dixon, Marisa Berenson, Stephanie Seymour and Peter
Brant, Princess Firyal of Jordan, Ahn Duong,
Patricia Duff, Ben
and Elke Gazzara, Donna Karan, Evelyn and Leonard Lauder ,
Lars Nilsson, Kate Spade, Blaine Trump, Richard Torrenzano, Audrey
Gruss, Grace Hightower, Dr. James Eisdorfer, and Chuck
Close.
The
gala chairs were Jerry Bruckheimer, Beth Rudin DeWoody, Barry
Diller, Katharina Otto-Bernstein and Veronique Pittman.
The
after party co-chairs were Jacqueline Anderson, Wes Anderson, Liz
Cohen, Cristina & Chris Cuomo, Alexandra & Alexander
von Furstenburg, Shoshanna Lonstein & John Gruss.
The
décor was designed by Colin Cowie and inspired by classic
film and video, with an all black-and-white theme reminiscent of the
Cecil Beaton racing scene in My Fair Lady. Vivendi/Universal
was the major corporate underwriter of the evening with additional
support from NetJets.
