Party Central
NY Style

t's one, two, three, four or more great parties every night in New York.  The hardest decision is "which one do I choose?"  In the good old days, before traffic halted progress, three or even four parties were possible; now it's just one or two.  So here are the best for the month.

CHARLES & CAMILLA at MoMA
I was among the honored 300 invited for this most exclusive event during the NYC visit of C&C.  It was a magical evening of pomp, pageantry, ceremony and American ease.  Brits and Yanks mingled cheerily. When the Royal Couple arrived, it was protocol to the winds – everyone wanted to be close and upfront.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE SEASON
Some of us had to dash off to the Alzheimer's Gala, aka the Rita Hayworth Ball.  Founded by her daughter Princess Yasmin Khan, this is a highlight of the fall season.

Ball gowns, jewels and almost $2 million raised, makes this one of the year's most glamorous parties.  Natalie Cole wowed the 1200, including Anne Hearst with author Jay McInerney, and Hollywood's Joan Collins, recently returned to NYC.  Ivana Trump, Denise Rich, and all the other usual suspects were there; then again, they're at all the best parties.

Len Leeds

MUSIC AT THE BAR
Known as the "Singing Lawyer," Len Leeds made his singing debut at the famed Friars Club. Head Friar, comedian Freddy Roman, had everyone in stitches introducing the man who has gone from "Lawsuits to Love Songs."

Then came Len with his voice, a delicious blend of Frank Sinatra, Jack Jones and Neil Sedaka.  He'd like to give up jury rooms and settle happily into cabaret rooms.  Judging by his acclaimed debut, Len has an exciting career ahead of him.

WELCOME BACK JOAN
A ton of VIP Manhattanites welcomed Miss Collins back to New York in style at the super stylish AER nightclub.  Andy Unanue co-hosted the celebrity event, when Neil Sedaka, author Michael Gross, Gilligan's Island Ginger, Tina Louise, and the always beautiful Arlene Dahl were among the glitterati saying hello to the delicious Miss Collins and her handsome hubby, Percy Gibson.

ABT superstar principal dancers, Irina Dvorenko and Maxim Belotserkovsky were there as well. Joan is transplanting to the East Coast in preparation for a national tour and Broadway debut of Legends. She'll star with longtime friend, and Dynasty arch rival, Linda Evans.

STAND UP AND CLAP
That’s what the 1200 guests did at the G&P Foundation's Angel Ball.  Named for the beautiful Gabriella Rich, who died too young at just 27 after a long bout with cancer, the G&P raised over $3.5 million for cancer research.

Helped along by honoree Patti LaBelle, the evening's magic belonged to the singers – Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Reuben Studdard, superstar rapper Nelly and the divine Miss LaBelle who wowed with her glorious voice.

Founder Denise Rich rounded up her celebrity pals for a star-studded evening.  Ivana Trump, Star Jones Reynolds, Lorraine Bracco, Montel Williams, and all the aforementioned singing stars raised the roof of the New York Marriott Marquis.
