HE Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, represented by board members Diana Quasha, Audrey Gruss, Eva Dillon, Tom Edelman and Sydney Shuman, threw a rousing birthday party for the 40th anniversary of the legendary D&D Building at 979 Third Avenue in Manhattan. The philanthropic owners of D&D, Charles and Clo Cohen, gave The House a generous donation to mark the occasion.
Among the interior designers who lent their names to the invitation were Mario Buatta, Bunny Williams, Albert Hadley, John Rosselli, Robert Rufino, Kitty Hawks, Bruce Bierman, Geoffrey Bradfield, Albert Capraro, Milly de Cabrol, Mark Epstein, Joanne de Guardiola, Philip Gorrivan, Harry Heissmann, Tony Ingrao, Lisa Jackson, Noel Jeffrey, Randy Kemper, Sheila Camera Kotur, Richard Mishaan, Juan Pablo Molyneux, Juan Montoya, Charlotte Moss, Todd Romano, Stephen Siegel and Scott Snyder.
The party was held on D&D’s 14th floor in the newly refurbished Astra Café. Mayor Mike Bloomberg’s own designer, Jamie Drake, adorned the reception tables with red and gold silk, satin and velvet fabrics from the building’s vendors, heart, star and diamond shaped "rubies" and dark porcelain vases filled with large sprays of crab apple tree branches, provided by florist Zezé.
Alex Donner and his band entertained such guests as Anne Ellington, Wolfgang Thom, Nina Griscom, LHNH executive director Warren Scharf, Sharon Bush, Roric Tobin, Janna Bullock, art consultant Michel Witmer, Bentley Meeker, Julia Wallace, Brendan Dillon, Melissa Berkelhammer, Mark Langrish, Jonathan Gargiulo, Tobie Roosevelt, Mark Gilbertson, Amy Hoadley, William Secord, Joanna Mastroianni, Jay Snyder, Marilyn White, Michael Devine, Susan Egan, Pilar Viladas, Alison Mazzola, Lorie Adams, Tom Knapp and Wendy Cebula.
