AFE HORIZON, the 26-year-old organization that annually helps more than 400,000 crime victims become survivors in New York City , threw a party at the gorgeous oceanfront home of Jane and Jack Rivkin in East Hampton to thank and celebrate its many loyal supporters. They called it their Second Annual Sunset Celebration.
This year, the event focused on Safe Horizon’s child advocacy centers, which provide assistance to physically and sexually abused children and their families.
Safe Horizon CEO Gordon J. Campbell and Jacqueline Winston, senior director of the Brooklyn Child Advocacy Center welcomed the guests and Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum extolled their service to the community.
It was a fun family party. Children and their parents, including Cynthia and Dan Lufkin with their daughter Schuyler, Helen, Tim and Storey Schifter, lighting guru Bentley Meeker with son Jensen and pretty Jo Hook, and Cricket, Richard, India and Manzi Burns, were delighted decorating cookies, having their faces painted, and laughing at the magician, juggler and stilt walker, who were brought in from NY Fun Factory.
Julia Wallace, Eva Dillon, Dr. Howard Sobel, Bettina Zilkha, R Couri Hay, Douglas Hannant, Sotheby’s Royce Pinkwater, Mario Buatta, Michèle Gerber Klein, Frederick Anderson, Amy Rosi, Daniel Benedict, Lucia Hwong-Gordon, Maile Zambuto, Andrew Saffir, Cindy Duke, Victoria Rose Creviston, David Cataletto, Myra Shapiro, Caterina Hausmann and Melinda Hackett, were also among the 100 guests sipping Champagne Veuve Clicquot and devouring tasty mini-cheeseburgers while grooving to the smooth music of Crushed Velvet and relaxing to the sound of the crashing surf.
Special thanks to a strong host committee including Stephanie March, Bobby Flay, Cornelia Guest, Gillian and Lydia Hearst-Shaw, Muffie Potter Aston, Nicole Miller, Thom Filicia, Zang Toi, Alvin Valley, Judy Licht, Andrea Stark, Marc Bouwer, Dominique Browning, CeCe Cord, Elisabeth Kieselstein-Cord, Jodi and Jesse Della Femina, Mark Epstein, Cynthia Frank, Jamee Gregory, Steven Jacoby, Alexandra Kramer, Cynthia Rowley, Julie Dannenberg, Sean Byrnes, Annie Churchill and Fabian Basabe, for their support of this wonderful evening.
