HE Black White + Whitney evening, created by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, raised more than $1.7 million for the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. The after party featured a special performance by LAMYA where 600 people danced the night away.

Among the glittering guests were Sharon Stone, Vera Wang, Joan Collins, Barry Diller, museum director Maxwell Anderson, Dan Akroyd and Donna Dixon, Marisa Berenson, Stephanie Seymour and Peter Brant, Princess Firyal of Jordan, Ahn Duong,  Patricia Duff,  Ben and Elke Gazzara, Donna Karan, Evelyn and Leonard Lauder , Lars Nilsson, Kate Spade, Blaine Trump, Richard Torrenzano, Audrey Gruss, Grace Hightower, Dr. James Eisdorfer, and Chuck Close.

The gala chairs were Jerry Bruckheimer, Beth Rudin DeWoody, Barry Diller, Katharina Otto-Bernstein and Veronique Pittman.

The after party co-chairs were Jacqueline Anderson, Wes Anderson, Liz Cohen, Cristina & Chris Cuomo, Alexandra & Alexander von Furstenburg, Shoshanna Lonstein & John Gruss.

The décor was designed by Colin Cowie and inspired by classic film and video, with an all black-and-white theme reminiscent of the Cecil Beaton racing scene in My Fair Lady. Vivendi/Universal was the major corporate underwriter of the evening with additional support from NetJets.
