Princess Lilly Lawrence | Lorna Luft and Ed O’Ross | Alan Hamel and Suzanne Somers | Martin Landau and Sally Kirkland | MALIBU FILM FESTIVAL Indies Film Fest Fit for a Princess By Polly Van Raalte ALIBU'S Castle Kashan, owned by Princess Lilly Lawrence, was the glorious setting for the third annual Malibu Film Festival. The princess welcomed her guests in a glamorous lavender silk embroidered creation. Many of the rooms in the castle were adorned with pink and red rose petals. (I felt like I was on the set of American Beauty.) The festival this year honored independent filmmakers. Festival producer David Katz said, “We have an opportunity to showcase new film and talent to the film industry.” He presented Lilly with the Patron of Independent Filmmakers Award. While tasting the delicious fish prepared by world famous author/chef Wolfgang Puck, I met up-and-coming star Edward Spivak. He recently shot a film in San Francisco. Actress/exercise guru Suzanne Somers made a grand entrance in a fantastic white pantsuit. I believe she was carrying a Judith Lieber bag. In fact, Princess Lilly showcased her Judith Leiber bags in her bedroom. Sally Kirkland, in a fabulous leopard coat, was chatting with Woody Allen’s favorite actor, Martin Landau. I couldn’t believe I met Ed O’Ross of HBO’s Six Feet Under. He had Lorna Luft on his arm. At the end guests gathered in the kitchen to taste the incredible desserts. How fun was the evening? Fit for a princess. |
