Here’s Affordable Laser
For Home Office Printing

By Tim Boxer

HEN shopping for a laser printer, think Samsung. The company has just come out with a beauty. It is the black & white ML-1430 laser printer. This entry-level laser printer produces sparkling crisp text and graphics at a printing speed of 15 ppm, with real resolution of 600 dpi.

It is feature-rich with 8MB memory and built-in parallel and USB ports.

The input tray holds 150 sheets. The alternate bypass feeder can handle a wide variety of sizes including envelopes, labels, card stock and transparencies. At the touch of a button you can reprint the last page or cancel a job. Now that is neat!

Wait, there’s more. When generating drafts, you don’t need to use the full power of the toner cartridge. Simply press the Toner Save Button. You will thus cut down on toner consumption by up to 40 percent. That leads to fewer replacement cartridges, saving you money.

Using the Toner Save will extend the life of the printer cartridge from 2,500 pages to 3,500 pages.

The machine is so light, I put it on my desk next to the monitor, where it is easily accessible. It weighs just 13.7 pounds, with dimensions of 13 inches wide, 13.9 inches deep, and 9 inches high.

“The ML-1430 is designed to offer home and small office users many of the benefits of a high quality laser printer at a more affordable price,” says Chanel O’Connor, printer product manager for Samsung’s Digital Information Technology Division.

At a street price of $199, you know O’Connor’s on the button. More information at 1-800-SAMSUNG or www.samsungusa.com/printer.
