MONG the celebrities who performed in the Drama League’s salute to columnist Liz Smith in New York were Kaye Ballard, Christine Baranski, Betty Buckley, Peter Gallagher, Valerie Harper, Michele Lee, Tony Roberts and Elaine Stritch.
“The Drama League is dedicated to developing and fostering both artists and audiences for the theatre,” said chairman Julia Hansen.
“Proceeds from tonight’s event will fund the Drama League’s nationally recognized Directors Project.”
Actress Stephanie Powers, who looked ravishingly beautiful, recently returned from Africa. She said that conditions were starting to settle down in that continent.
Peter Elliot of Bloomberg News said that Liz is one of his favorite ladies. He also said he’s writing a book on the legendary Sirio Maccioni of Le Cirque Restaurant.
