Miss USA | Tony LoBianco | Bobby Valentine with Jake and Colton Salazar | Hockey star Rod Gilbert of the New York Rangers | Columbus Day Parade Cheers Up New York By POLLY VAN RAALTE T was red, white and blue, as well as green, as the Columbus Day Parade strutted down Fifth Avenue. Besides the requisite band of politicians and celebrities, there were a lot of tourists from Oregon who came to show support for a wounded New York. Mets manager Bobby Valentine was the grand marshall. He couldn’t help smiling as he rode majestically in a convertible. This was as close to a Mets victory parade as he would get this year. Tony LoBianco was part of the Konica float. Looked great in a camel hair coat. Miss USA Kandace Kruger was as beautiful as ever. The Radio City Rockettes were adorable in their smart military outfits. The cast of Rent performed on the red carpet. They touched our hearts with song. The incredible operatic voice of Michael Amante brought chills up my spine and tears to my eyes. |
